Beautiful, Chuck! Do you collect your own Lakers, being up there in the territory? If not where do you buy them?

Beautiful, Chuck! Do you collect your own Lakers, being up there in the territory? If not where do you buy them? Dale Thanks- Most lakers are not collected in Michigan. They are super rare to find on our beaches especially the size and quality of the ones in this post. They are usually coming from Minnesota gravel pits and farm fields. I buy them pretty much wherever and when ever I can. Mostly scour EBAY for the high end rough. Maybe one of these days I'll document my collection of laker tumbles. Probably about 40 pounds of them finished right now. Chuck

Actually, Michigan seems like right next door compared to coming all the way up from Florida.....LOL.

Actually, Michigan seems like right next door compared to coming all the way up from Florida.....LOL. 14 hours from my house in Michigan to Grand Marias Minnesota and 15 hrs from my house to Panama City Florida. Hard to believe but true. Chuck

Never would have guessed that! Guess that retirement laker trip strategy might have to be modified a bit.

Great job on the polish. Love Lakers. I have many Lbs. of found LSA, some I polished early on, but have kept the rest unpolished. I have never figured out how to value LSA agates. Every year at Moose Lake agate days I look at the high valued ones trying to figure out why they get ask so much money for them. I understand if they are large but some fist sized plain ones seem to fetch way more then I would think they are worth. It is funny to see a $300 agate at one booth at the start of the show and finding it at another booth for $450-$500 at another booth later, with that seller saying he is selling it way under it's value. The one thing I do know is you can ask whatever you want but that they are only worth whatever you can get for them....................................MrP

Since I don't really want to sell many it makes the pricing easy. I put a price on them that I am willing to let them go for. I do not haggle. If someone wants some they have to want them more than I do,lol I have bought well over 100 pounds to get 20-30 pounds that I consider keepers. Might have another 15 or so pounds that are nicely polished but boring solid colors. The boring ones keep getting used as filler in my batches. Chuck

Beautiful rocks, Chuck! Carnelian and Lakers are a couple favs of mine, along with Bots and Bahia. I've tumbled a bunch of Lakers also and never thought about keeping them intact. There's a good supply nearby, so I guess it never occurred to me to preserve them. Guess it doesn't matter if you buy them for yourself and aren't selling. Thanks for the awesome show!

Great show, Chuck! Just got a handful of lakers from toiv0 and hope they turn out as well as yours. Also have a golf ball sized one, from Garage Rocker that I have been babying along. It's interesting to see how the color patterns run deep in some and then almost polish off on others, leaving a single color. Thanks for posting! Jeremy

I am always chasing after cool patterns and banding but even the solid color ones are really nice. Chuck
