Red maples too ? Or just Sugar Maples ? I don't have any sugar maples to tap. They are not overly common in my immediate area. I wanted to hit the silvers but they flowered out already and that was that. So, I am hitting the Box Elders.

I'm going to say something very un-American. I hate pancakes. Waffles are only a little better because they are crispier. Went to a popular breakfast place on the SF peninsula with Bro & Sis & I got a burger. Now that's breakfast! Lynn

That's OK if you don't like pancakes. Everyone has their own tastes. Heck, there are even men who don't like women out there.

Box Elder is a maple. It makes a superior syrup, but takes more sap.
BE is the only tree that I have been able to have success with so far.
Last year I was sick for the one week that the silvers were good, and this year they flowered 2 weeks ago which ruins the sap.

Aw man... I missed out this year on collecting the sap. Collected agates instead to get home to very warm temps and the buds on the trees already opened. There's nothing better then that home cooked syrup! Enjoy

I maybe Canadian, but I'm no fan of maple syrup. I prefer this stuff. Beats maple hands down.

I'd buy a 4oz sample of syrup!

You need to make pancakes with eggs to get anything edible. Don't use the COMPLETE Mix that you just add water.

Good stuff, thick not runny like maple. Its the cats meow on hot fresh baked bread. Peanut butter and syrup sandwich is also very good.
