Wanted to post and introduce myself. I am Brand new to the forum and tumbling but I have read some good threads on here already. My first batch of rocks is about halfway through stage one. It is all Sodalite from a big chunk I got on ebay. Any advice specific to sodalite?

Just post your finished pics. If the tumbling doesn't workout a person experienced with sodalite can help you out. That's not me. Welcome from Ohio

Welcome to a wonderful site full of great info. I am actually working on some spotted sodalite right now. Most of it is still in a rough stage in my rotary tumbler, but I did have a few pieces that are in 500 in my vibe. It will be a few more days before they will be ready to check out as to how they take a polish. In the rough stage they seem to be OK, no major issues that I could see. Your sodalite may be done before mine, so you"ll end up telling me how it went.

Welcome to the forum from Southern Utah. Sodalite has hard & soft areas, so it may undercut. If you have high grade material, you may get a more even polish. Lynn

Hello from Mississippi welcome to the forum! Haven't tumbled any Sodalite yet but I do have pieces parts I put back after trimming some cabs. When I build up enough soft stone material I plan on setting it a roll. Good luck and please post pics of your progressions! Mel

Welcome! Similarly I haven't tumbled sodalite, but it is quite soft, so check it often and go easy with the coarse grit.
