Awesome. You were lucky. A wild tailess Tasmanian Dingo Dragon was stalking you. Probably lost it's tail in an Aboriginal death pit. Looks mean. Nice lizard for a pet, though.

What breed is Jax? I love that dogs color and shape. She is a blue heeler. Also known as an Australian cattle dog or Queensland heeler. But blue heeler is more specific since there are also red heelers. They were bred from domesticated dingos crossed with kelpie, collie and dalmation.

You are blessed with an amazing partner. Congratulations.

Thanks, I have seen a few pics of other healers with her color pattern. But they vary and all the other heelers I have seen in person looked nothing like her. There are all sort of pics on Pinterest under heelers or Australian cattle dogs. When we found each other I was surprised at how small she was. Jax is smaller than most heelers. Since I adopted her as an adult I don't know her history, if she was a runt or I heard there is a smaller breed. All I know is that she had been abused from the signs she gave and later the agency i adopted her from made a comment about the fact that she had been abused. But she bonded to me the first day and when we pulled up in front of the house she ran right up to the door knowing this was her furever home. We have been inseparable ever since and have been on all sorts of trips together. I really feel that Jax was led to me by the spirit of my former business partner and off and on girlfriend of 18 years who passed away a few years ago. She was a major dog lover and was always commenting on how the most beautiful dogs in the world always came to her. She did have some beautiful dogs including Sheena who was a sheltie/coyote mix and Sebatian who was a huge shephard/akita mix. Her last dog her family gave away just to spite me. So I finally decided it was time to have a dog in the house again and I looked and looked and could not find what I was looking for. Adult, medium sized, short haired high energy dog. When I finally saw Jax's pic and her big smile I knew she was the one. So I got up really early and drove all the way across town to get her when they said she would be up for adoption but they said she was still in the women's prison for 3 more weeks for training. I found out what the adoption fees were, which was way higher than I was expecting and I did not have that kind of money. So when the three weeks came around they asked me if I still wanted to adopt Jax and I had to tell then I could not afford to. So she went up for adoption and two families tried to adopt her but they were both turned down because they had kids. That makes no sense to me since Jax loves people including kids. Anyway, I went to a birthday party for my silent business partner's niece. He and his wife had just lost their dog due to medical mistakes when they brought him in for neutering. I put Jax' photo on my phone and told him that I really wanted her. He said why don't you get her. I told him what the adoption fee was and he said go get her and pulled out his wallet, handed me the money and told me to call them right then. So I did. They wanted me to come down Saturday when she would be up for adoption again but I did not want to risk someone getting there before me so they said I could come down to the women's prison on Thursday. So I went down that Thursday and picked her up and the rest as they say was history.

A "horny toad" I've always wanted to see one! They only eat ants though right? I'd think hard to keep as pets if that's the case, no?
Always enjoy seeing Jax too.

I think she was saying you were beautiful too.
I also had a thought about her and reincarnation, but I got afraid of an accidental insult. That would not be my plan.

We used to find them and them a lot as kids along with yellow bellies, blue bellies and skinks. But all the growth here must have destroyed their habitat because I have not seen any of these in the Vegas area since I was a kid and I rarely see the horny toads rarely out in the surrounding areas but never blue bellies or yellow bellies. Same with we used to have tarantulas here in town but have not seen those in town since I was little either. We never kept any of these as pets.

I am not sold on reincarnation per se, but I do believe in a soul, ghost, spirit or whatever people want to call it. As we know in physics you cannot really destroy something, only change its form. For example if you burn a block of wood you are only changing its form. The body is the same way. What happens to all that energy in the body when we die since you cannot destroy it? Personally I feel this becomes our spirit. And I think Debra's spirit guided Jax to me at a time I desperately needed her in my life.

That was a wonderful story! Made my day. Yes, Jax was meant for you.
We had a special adoption with a cat. She was 6 so no one wanted to adopt her. She had been there past her death date, but the staff took turns taking her home. She was so sweet and just loved people. We went the the SPCA looking for a kitten. We walked in and there was the cage with a beautiful tortie. She wanted company so badly. It was the big walk in cage that was used to highlight the animals they were promoting. We went in-- just to see the kitty, mind you. Jasmine (Jazz) loved on all of us and found a home wrapped around my neck -laying on my shoulders and purring in my ear. I have never seen a cat so damn personable. Well, long story short, we didn't get a kitten, we got a 6 year old cat who loved with us till she was 25 y/o and had to be put down. I never thought I could love a cat so much. I had always had dogs before. She was my forever cat.
