I have mentioned in another thread about experimenting with Recovered Slurry as a Rock Polish. My cleanout sink removes any heavy particles that go into the settlement tank and passes the fine powder and rock dust to the overflow bucket. I believe this overflow material is very fine and contains the powdered remains of SiC, Aluminum Oxide, Cerium Oxide polish, and Rock Dust from a hundred different kinds of rocks.
I have been grooming a bucket of this super fine slurry to be very clean of large particles and want to try and see what finish it creates on some different materials. Not sure what is the best way to set this up. Want to try tumbling some glass that I have already shined up really good to see if the previous polish deteriorates any.
Will start this rolling on Sunday in the Lortone 3 pound barrel. The slurry will be very thick and will Not contain any Plastic cushioning. Any suggestions before I get started ?

Sunday is my Rock Day even if it's Easter. So I did get some already polished glass spinning in a 3 pound barrel with some recovered slurry as polish. Filled the barrel 1/3 with polished glass, then added sludge to fill the barrel about 3/4 full in all. The sludge is thick and I am depending on it to do the cushioning. Will check on the progress in 3 days.
For about 3 weeks I have been letting my overflow bucket settle a couple of days after a cleanout, then siphoning off the clearish liquid, now have plenty of sludge to play with. Thinking about trying it on plants next.

I pulled the glass out today and it was not good. It started out as a polish and now it is a silvery sheen. I will post some pictures tomorrow.

Have been fairly busy for the last few days but here is an example of a piece of glass that I was trying to polish with the used Fine Slurry. It started out fully clear and polished and was tumbled with the fine slurry for 4 days. Still looks pretty but it is not a polish.

Looks like you have discovered a short cut method of producing 'beach glass'.
