Hi I'm Kate. (k8)
Rocks have always caught my eye, but I thought I would buy a tumbler and try polishing a few. I live in the Columbia River Gorge and do a lot of hiking and exploring in (and around) the rivers and streams. I recently visited Anderson's Rock Ranch outside of Madris Oregon, but wasn't impressed with the thunder eggs. Not enough bling. They do have a nice collection of odd rocks and I purchased a 20 lb piece of Moonkaite that warms a room. My goal is to polish rocks and put them in various places along the trails in the Gorge to beautify the hiking experience. I'm going to spend the next couple of weeks reading all I can before my tiny Thumlers comes in the mail. If I have any questions, I'm sure the answer is in here someplace.

Welcome from Wisconsin . You're going to need a bigger tumbler when the shiny rocks start disappearing from the trail .

from Tennessee. Putting polished rocks on a trail sounds very cool. But DO expect them to disappear. But what a fun experience for the person finding the stones! My family keeps up two Geo-caches and I always put a polished stone or crystal point in the cache and they are almost always the first to go.

Yes it was Richardsons. I didn't get to go dig since there was a threat of rain. They do have a very cool collection of rocks to choose from. Just starting out it seemed overwhelming.
I'm getting some great advice on the forum. Hope I can keep giving them away and not become a collector. I'm a minimalist at heart so just owning a tumbler is a big step for me. LOL.
I don't know a Jason Hinkle. Where does he live?
