After bombarding the system with adverts, it looks like Photobucket disabled any and all pictures unless one upgrades to a paying scheme, on 3rd. Party links.
That would be the only reason to upload to Photobucket in the first place. I have used it for nearly 7 years to upload here and other forums so as not to stress the capacity of forums. Now it seems, any and all pictures of mine will be lost on the forum, unless I pay up.
I'm sorry, but I will not give in to extortion! Rather will start again from here on out with another system, and wipe any and all connection with that "£$%!

That's why I am unwilling to play with corporate pic services. Plus it's another couple or 7 steps to add to posting a pic. If photo bucket is going that way then RTH is fixing to lose a ton of pics!

I wouldn't want to take government subsidies from the government and steal from the poor people who are hard working and paying for that creature. I have been very successful by operating all my businesses over the years without over charging anyone, misrepresenting things and ripping people off. While photobucket may or may not suffer significant losses, if they do fail, the same nefarious characters will continue to parasitize unwitting victims in a new venture. They wouldn't be the first hosting site to damage them selves or to fail. Just because something may be legal, it doesn't mean its right.

I may be the only one, but I've had zero problems w/ photobucket for 7 years. It does, like everything else, seem to be running a bit slower, ever since Congress made it OK to segregate gigabytes and assign them to the well healed, leaving us minions some scrappy megs.

Or. Greed built the economy you seem to thrive in. Like or hate it. It's a trait. What you call a flaw, others call a virtue. econfaculty.gmu.edu/wew/articles/99/nature-of-greed.htmNot all greed is bad. Can't be. Or you would not be able to operate your enterprise. On man's trash, another man's treasure.....

Just checked my account and it has a ton of pop ups but still works fine. They do have a new policy though, that if you exceed your free storage space, they immediately freeze your account until you go with a fee based account.....Mel

IT IS A SCAM. I went to photobucket to check the status after receiving the email that said pay up $several hundred or else. Nothing is out of the ordinary there and an upgrade is only a couple of bucks a month.
Do not give your card number to upgrade on the email.
I HAVE A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ABOUT THIS SENT TO PHOTOBUCKET AND HOPE THEY GET BACK TO ME. FIRST REPLY WAS FROM ROBOT BUT STILL HOPING FOR MORE. Jim

I agree with Jim. While I'm definitely no fan of PB I'd still have a l-o-o-o-o-ng way to go before I'd have to start paying for extra storage. I won't use PB because you now have to disable your ad blocker in order to upload or download images and without a blocker it's literally like being attacked by very predatory ad spam. No thanks.
But in PB's defense you get 2 gigs of free storage and I've used less than 5% of that. Adding the first stage of additional storage is only $5.99 a month and that will give you 59 gigs. If you want 102 gigs that's $9.99/mo. and 502 gigs is $39.99/mo.
So IMO the reports I've read are greatly exaggerated.

I'm at 18 %, so still a long way to go. The point is that they suddenly claim that third party sharing is not allowed for free account holders.

The scammer is the one that sent the emails and their purpose is to get people to give their card number to some bogus site. I have received similar emails in the past and have had my computer destroyed once.
We need someone way more tech than me to figure this out. Jim

Nhhh, the scam is an email based scam. No actual default action on that one.
In this case, the forums are affected for anyone under that system. Everything is still on photobucket. The just disabled all the links. Who in the world uses Photobucket to store pictures. We upload there to link to diverse websites. That "3rd. Party Sharing" has become suddenly payable and will only be reinstated after you pay up.

My bad, I was wrong and this sucks. My photos are still linked to my posts so if they leave that up there won't be a problem because I have switched to rockshow on here. Jim

In order to be able to use PB for 3rd party photo hosting, you much purchase the Plus 500 plan. Last one listed below:
That is straight from their Photobucket.com Terms of Use - Last revised June 28, 2017
No exaggeration, it is $400 for one year!!

The problem isn't image storage space...storage space is cheap cheap cheap. The issue here is bandwidth. Bandwidth is limited and expensive. If you're sharing a lot of images and they're getting lots of views, each view uses up a small amount of the image hosts's bandwidth...KK's exceeded photobucket's bandwidth allotment for free hosted images, so they've shut down sharing of his images until he pays up for more bandwidth. Usually bandwidth usage is reset on a monthly basis, so his images should be viewable again when the month rolls over in a couple days.

If I exceeded bandwidth suddenly at 18%, then I wonder as to why it would have happened to a lot of other people too at the same time. In any case, will move on to Flikr. They have improved a lot, and wayyyy less adverts. Saves time by having instant re-size option for sharing to forums. And once you get to know the system, way quicker and easier to deal with than PB.
