OK, despite being new and having a billion questions, I'll avoid saturating things here, but one more set of agates. What would you call these? I have plenty of classic bubblegum agates (from what I've seen online), but some others that are different. Also would like to know what you guys do with things like these. Polish? Leave as is? Any tips? Photo #1 -- I'd call these guys all bubblegum agates, right? What do you guys do with these? Polish, leave as is? I've seen pics of what some look like polished, so am leaning towards keeping some of the outstanding examples as is, but then taking some of the others (I have a bunch more) and polishing them. Photo #2 -- I was calling this one a bubblegum agate as well, but it's so much bigger than those above. Those above are all around an inch. This one is between 3 and 4 inches, and has flat, raised nodules rather than the bubbly ones above. Photo #3 -- Bubblegum, or something else? This one looks so different than the other bubblegums I have. Certainly has a lot more eyes, looks like a brain coral from some angles. Polish this thing or not? I'd be curious what patterns would show up when it was smoothed, given all those intersecting eyes. Photo #4 -- Is this guy just a really well-worn bubblegum? In all the bubblegums we've found, we haven't found any others quite like this one. Photo #5 -- Miscellaneous...something...included because it's red, white, and "blue". Seemed appropriate on the eve of July 4...

Where are you finding these? 2 and 4 look similar to the fossil corals I am finding in WI.

These are all on the Buffalo Gap National Grasslands here in South Dakota. I too have found some obvious coral pieces (horn coral, syringopora), but didn't know what #2 and #4 were here.

Except for the top center one, those all look like bubblegums to me. The ones I've had seem pretty variable. They make about the most fun tumble ever. Usually turn out fantastic and really interesting but I never tumble the ones that really look like a perfect pink wad of bubblegum cause they look cool just like they are....Mel
