Last night, we sustained a power outage at 12:30 am. Fast forward to 8:00 am. this morning, and power is still out. A quick check of the utility's website indicates we will be down until 12:30 pm. Time to break out the generator which I've had for years but have never needed for emergency use. I won't count the wife's coffee maker being powered up this morning at 6:30, but that's a different story. Refrigerator in the garage is powered up, and I ended up hooking up our neighbor's garage refrigerator to the generator. All is well at that point. Note: Kitchen refrigerator is newer and much better insulated, and steps were taken to maintain temps for food preservation. As I'm proudly inspecting my garage hookups, I realize that my tumblers could use some power. After some time doing some hookups, my rotaries were rolling along in addition the the refrigerators that were being powered. So, at the end of the day, the score was: Refrigerators - 2 Tumblers - 3 I guess I'm an addict. PS: Power came back at 1:00 pm. I'm hoping the electrical equipment involved (that caused the outage) was what was scheduled to be changed out on Monday. We were set for a scheduled outage on that day. Dave

Yes, you are an addict. But, so is your wife.... I gotta go with coffee maker first, too. LOL! We brought our full size coffee maker with us on vacation. The hotel pots are too damn small.

Yes, you are an addict. But, so is your wife.... I gotta go with coffee maker first, dartoo. LOL! We brought our full size coffee maker with us on vacation. The hotel pots are too damn small. We do, too! It's funny you hit on the coffee maker aspect. Bear with me a bit... I worked in a fire department where coffee is a staple. In a station, it's put on first thing in the morning, and there's usually a fresh pot at all times through the day. I only tended to drink coffee at work. Just one of those things. This morning, when the wife wanted coffee, I just groaned. 0630 in the morning...neighbors won't be happy. Back to the fire department thing...funniest thing I ever saw was a truck company (hook and ladder for the rest of you) who had a coffee maker setup on their truck. They carried all that was needed for their coffee maker to be run off a generator. As a spinoff of "Mr. Coffee," they called it "Mr. Truckee". That stuff was good at "O" dark thirty in the morning. Yep, you had to be there. Dave

Re coffee: when husband first gets downstairs, he pushes the ON button of Mr. Coffee, then goes out front to get the newspaper.
When I first get downstairs, it is almost ready, and I clean out the kitty litter, fed the kitty, and get a cup of coffee. All goes like clockwork!

Well, most important thing is admitting you are. So, I'm willing to help the problem you send me all your rocks And tumblers. It might be tough for me but I can find the space.

Glad to know I'm not alone in the coffee/generator setup. We have had 4 power outages in the last 2 months and a generator is darned handy to have around! I have the big 9,500 watt rig for serious outages like ice storms in the winter, but the little 2,000 watt inverter is ideal for the coffee pot
