I have to clean my trays every time I use them, so I need to lift the hoods a bit to slide out the tray. I have seen some people complain about how they end up slipping down. I was having that problem, too. Being too lazy to pull off the whole hood and set it aside, I came up with a way to lift the hood a little and have it stay put.
Under the hood, there a four black rubber stoppers. These things get gunked up pretty good. That, as far as I can tell, is the biggest reason for the slipping. But, aside from keeping them clean, I use acetone to rub them down. It softens the rubber and makes it grippy again. I also rough up the top of the stoppers with a small file. Doesn't have to be super rough and you don't need or want to take a lot off- you just want to give it some teeth.
I'm sure I'm not the first to do this, but I thought I would share anyway.

Thanks for the tip on cleaning the rubber stoppers. I clean my Genie after each use, too. It gets gunky under the hoods, too, so I lift them off and clean them. I'll have to take a better look at the stoppers. The hoods do not come off easily. I'd do it today except it is 92 in the shed!

If your hoods don't come off easily, then you probably don't need to do this. There may come a time when you do, though.
