While going through a rock bag, I came across a really colorful jasper. Looks like Indian Blanket but also another one that I don't remember. Anyone know this easy one? Bet the cabbers all know it. Guess I should rock hound my bags, boxes and piles more often. grin Thank you, Cliff

Wow, you can make a big Colorado cowboy belt buckle with that one! Grin Yep cowboy at one time was but these days, like you are, I'm simply "western". .. probably keep the rock like that till I decide, like you might, to never cut it. Goes back into the pile and I learned one more thing.

Cliff, I'll throw in some limestone for the box going to wigglinrocks . Tumbles real fast! Especially if you tumble it is hydrochloric acid. Got some HCl chewing on a Reyes agate nodule right now. Watching it and am curious if it damages the agate part when eating all the drusy and calcite frm it. Also a prairie agate broken tumble. See if I can preform in acid. Coming along nicely. Been in an hour at about 33% dilution from the original gallon. The initial concentration of the acid must be 30 formal or so. ??

The hydrochloric acid will not affect the silica in the agate. I use hydrochloric all the time to separate fossils from limestone. The fossils are silicated.
