I don't know if this has been asked before. Hell, I might have asked it myself.
What plucks your last nerve and makes you see red for a split second? A broken nail? Missing the trashman? Being late for an appt? Breaking a cab? Dropping something tiny and knowing you'll never friggin' find it?
How about getting the side eye from a smart ass, sarcastic teenage granddaughter first thing in the morning? I have to bite my tongue. It hurts. Doesn't happen often, but boy, it sure sets me on edge. She's super good at it.

Dumb asses that honk their horn at your horse and wave when you are crossing the freaking road. Actually too many things piss me off to even list half of them. I might be getting cranky in my old age....Mel

Just give her a whack. I'm a firm believer that sometimes there needs to be a reset for some kids.
The guiltiest I ever felt was spanking my kid. He was still in diapers at the time, but it needed to be done. I made sure to slap the diaper, and it sure "awakened" him. It was one spank, on the diaper, and it probably turned out to be the best thing I did. It was not done in anger in any way whatsoever.
From then on, when he started to misbehave, the question was, "do you need a spanking?" His answer would be "no," and things moved on from there. I never had to touch him again.
So, where is he now? Well, he's not scarred, he was an above average student, and he moved through college playing baseball with an outstanding work ethic. Was it because I only spanked him once? Probably not so, but I'm a firm believer that some kids need a "reset" every now and then, and it worked for us.

Stupid drivers that do not know basic things like what a solid white line means, or does not know what the little lever beside the steering wheel that makes the lights blink on one side or other of the vehicle is for. Or especially the idiots that know their lane is ending so they race in front of you then cut you off suddenly instead of waiting their turn.

Gotta be inconsiderate, stupid, lousy or just plain bad drivers! One of these days I am going to be in an accident through no fault of my own. On my drive to Branson, there is a particular stretch of 4 lane with several moderate curves. It never fails that someone veers across the dividing line and nearly forces me into the gaurdrail. It's gonna happen someday as the traffic near Silver Dollar City is insane! That stretch keeps Highway patrol, EMT's and Fire dept running themselves ragged answering calls to accidents!

Rude inconsiderate drivers, who think their time is more important than everybody else's has got to top the list. You know, the ones that won't move over to the slow lane (read, planning ahead like most other drivers, getting in line) in preparation for exiting the freeway in a timely manner, instead darting in at the last second, cutting through the gore point? Once had someone cut in behind me at a high rate of speed just at an exit. They were traveling so fast, had they not veered back out (missing the exit), they would have gone right up my tailpipe!! Even an 8,000 lb urban assault vehicle like mine would have sustained some major damage. They would have been dead.
A close second is pretentious people that put on airs, think they are it.

Crazy drivers seems to take the cake! aDave, My son saw the one of the top pediatricians in the military. This was in the 80's. Even he advocated for the very rare spanking on the butt. When it is a matter of life and death and they need to learn a lesson- it's a spanking. I did spank mine- very rarely, always deserved, on the butt, never in anger and never too hard. I'm a firm believer in it. My son and my granddaughter had a fascination with outlets. Before they could get themselves electrocuted, I put the fear of spankings into them. THAT was stronger than their curiosity.

On two occassions, cars I was driving have been struck while I was stuck in traffic. Not a damn thing I could do about it. The second time was in broad daylight. My car is bright red! Fire-engine red!
My mother's car was totaled while we were waiting in traffic. I don't know what the driver was doing, but I suspect texting. Drove right into us on a straightaway. She was doing about 45 mph and never even saw us. They picked up the car pieces with a shovel and broom.
The next time someone runs into me for no good reason, I am going to go up to their car and ask, "Are you OK?" If they say "yes", I will slap them across the head and ask, "How about now?"

Nothing. I have taught myself to avoid anger before it happens. No anger here. That pisses me off! I have been thinking about what I said. And I believe you know I speak of daily run of the mill anger. Someone cut in line at Walmart? Cut you off at am intersection? Door ding? Mess up a meal at a restaurant? Yeah, those and more. I do not speak of the kind of anger that happens when a life is threatened. For instance a situation arises that puts someone I love in danger, I will respond. Now I speak of rape or robbery or other bodily harm. I won't be angry in response, but my response will be angry.
