These rocks were collected by my parents 40 - 60 years ago. I believe that I remember that these are Apache Tears. Is that correct? They are oblong with rough (lightly), gray exteriors. One of them has had 2 sides polished and you can see a dark center surrounded by a transparent layer. Any help would be appreciated.

Very interesting! I don't know enough about Apache tears to say, but they sure are neat. Some one here will know. Welcome, BTW

Apache Tears are small rounded obsidian.
Neat the your specimens have a center. I don't know what you have. Someone will know.
Welcome!

Thank you. Is eclipse a specific type of stone or is that a term describing the fact that there is something inside?

Thank you. Is eclipse a specific type of stone or is that a term describing the fact that there is something inside? I apologize jayb, just joking. I wish I had a 100 pounds of those with a shadow within. I was lucky enough to have this agate with a black blob in the center. I would guess you have an agate there.

scott, there are no broken surfaces. All of the stones are intact with the exception of the one with the polished sides.

If there isn't a name for this specific type of agate, I'm with jamesp. Eclipse agate!
