Photo of finished necklace below. The red coral is natural, old stock. This material is no longer available for harvest, as the species is endangered and harvest/selling new is prohibited worldwide. Most red coral one purchases now is dyed or new, old stock. Lots of black market as well. So, I am my own worst critic and was not totally happy with how this turned out. Tried a jute wrap for a natural look. The jute has a wire core and is treated for strength and durability. Have used it before for wraps. The inset coral shifted a little after I glued it in place. Necklace is red Bamboo coral, freshwater pearl and onyx. Sorry, but the Petoskey Stone came out a little dark due to lighting. It took a nice finish. Still need to fill space above coral with a sealer.

Not yes or no. It's why not? Outside of the coral box and now the focal point of a piece of jewelry. Works for me.
