We found this in an area where I don't think it should be. We are traveling the West, and rockhound when we can. We were staying half between Santa Fe New Mexico and I-25. Behind the Rv park is the dried up river bed where these were found. They are a 6 or 7 mohs. All the pictures I found of Unakite look like these rocks. The smaller one near the top middle was polished, and shines well. What do you think?

Not sure what it is, but I recall finding this out in Wyoming as well. Always made me pick it up because it was green and I thought it could be jade. Probably just some jasper that has similar colors. I wasn't rock hunting out there so I never really gave it much interest but I'm sure someone here knows.

It looks like unakite to me. I find it in Lake Superior. Your rough pictures are rougher than what I find because the lake does a lot of the rough tumbling for me. In your polished pictures, the two on the right look most like what i find. The left one doesn't look like unikite that I find.

The one on the left reminds me of the granite around here.

I looked it up and I think unakite is technically a granite, so that's probably accurate. For some reason I always assumed that it was only found in the great lakes region but apparently that's not true.
