That material is being sold as "Lipari" and "Cosmic" obsidian. I've seen source claims as both China and Italy (which tends to make me suspicious).
The only rough I've seen with orbs reliably sourced from Lipari in Italy contained spherules of pumice and open bubbles (sometimes lined with a crust of devitrified material, i.e. cristobalite, around the central voids). No explanation as to how such bubbles would naturally have filled once the obsidian had solidified. The claims for the inclusions made for the "Cosmic Obsidian" have ranged all over the place (everything from spinel to pyrite) - also do not inspire confidence. Very pretty, but I tend also to doubt obsidian.
Dynamite shine on those!

Hello Chuck, I'm just starting my first batch of agate in a new Mini-Sonic. Would you mind sharing your grit and duration at each stage?

Wonderful batches. The black stones with circles do not look like Snowflake obsidian at all. More like something similar to turritella agate but with a round lifeform of some type.

Very nice Chuck!
Wondering how I missed this thread, oh yeah, it was when I lost power from the hurricane. Glad it got bumped!

Hello Chuck, I'm just starting my first batch of agate in a new Mini-Sonic. Would you mind sharing your grit and duration at each stage? Do you have a rotary tumbler for stage one or are you planning to just use the mini-sonic? Chuck
