For those of you not familiar with SoCal one of our local jaspers is called Lavic Siding after the former small old West town of Lavic. It was even features on a Travel Channel show once. It has wonderfully vivid reds, oranges and yellows with occasional green and purple. The picture does not capture the depth that the clear quartz areas bring to the stone. I love lavik for the things you just mentioned and the meaning of the 29 palms marine base there. Also don't like it because its a bit weak, fractures easily and harder to work than most. Its also a bit messy in coloring the oil. Still love it though.. Love all the jaspers too. Now I think about it.. I flat out love all rocks. Even your Az pet wood. Cliff
I like this one better..Marston Ranch opalized jasper. A whole lot !

Very nice! barclay was that from the trip where we met you in the N.Cadys? No, this was from last year's trip. At our meeting this Friday we are going to plan our field trips for the next 6 months and the Cady's are one location i have not been since that field trip. Maybe if I am lucky I can get Shotgunner to lead us to those places again.
