Was planning on getting a Dop Pot for melting wax. Now wondering if I should get another to heat the pickle in?
In the past, the pickle was not heated, which resulted in a longer time that metal pieces had to be in it. If I could heat it, the needed time would be greatly reduced. Does anyone out there do this? Thanks.

Get a crock pot from the thrift store. Or, you can get a little dip crockpot for under 10.00. I use the dip crockpot because it is small and I don't do much or large items. Crockpots are perfect!

I also use a little dipper crockpot. $10 at Bed Bath and Beyond. They also carry TRU brand. Both work well. Don't forget to unplug it when done!!!

Mine is a generic one from Dollar General. LOL! I'm cheap.

Our dollar store doesn’t carry anything electric.
I also put a plastic strainer in the pickle pot. Makes it much easier to to retrieve small or flat pieces.
Small plastic strainers are at the grocery store. Used to strain tuna fish cans. Too pricey, though under $10. That would be a good item for the dollar store!

Thanks for the advice. Like the strainer idea.

Sometimes we put rocks in the bottom of the strainer. These also make it easier to grab your pickled item.
