Just found out our campground is abt 6 hrs from Hopewell, Ohio. So, if we leave early we can do the meetup. I am really looking forward to meeting you guys! I hope to patch it up with Scott, too. Not my place to speak for him but I don't think there is a lot of patching up needed. His leaving was a complicated affair - the proverbial straw that broke camel's back as they say.

The operator is the only one allowed to operate machinery at Nether's. He plans on opening a new hole in the spring then burying it again if it has good lapidary rock in it. He will then reopen it for the group. You've got no commitment until he digs a hole. He will expect his money when you show up, no matter how many show. When do folks in Ohio consider it spring? It's already been sprung here in CA lol. Sounds like a lot of money to me with the dwindling attendance happening. Cody - Luminin - having been there recently what would your advice be for the group? Is spending $500 on a backhoe dig an important thing that needs to happen or will we find plenty of other ways to dig out a bucket full of decent stuff? Being a recipient of a chunk of your flint from the traveling box I can say first hand that it is REALLY nice stuff you dug.

Well, if Ms. Nether's grants permission and we have a knowledgeable and patient operator, I think that would be an excellent $500 spent, Tommy.

Need to have a participation commitment before making that call. 5 people @ $100 each or 20 people @ $25 each is a big difference.

Chuck I agree - it's a big number and it scares me only in the sense that if these things go like they often go, a few folks could get left holding the bag. I can only commit that if I am not back to work full time we will be there as part of a scenic cross country drive, stopping to visit my relatives in Kentucky. There was a recent job opening at a company near our home in Napa for a very similar role that I've been doing for a lot of years. I applied for that job but did not get it - but I have submitted my resume out to several similar companies in the area. It was always my plan to only take one year off to recover from the stresses of a monster job with a monster commute. I'm about to cross the two year mark next month and I'm getting antsy about getting back to work. My spidey-senses say that we should cancel the financial commitment but I'm also curious how many we have that are serious about going.

I don't recall whether or not I posted it in this thread, but there was a possibility because FIL lives in Ohio. If I was ever penciled onto the list you can cross me out.

"Ok I’ll mark it down , I charge 550$ for a day ( that covers fuel and other expenses), I’ll try to locate some good rock when spring arrives, just make sure they have all safety gear! Glasses 👓, boots n leather or equivalent gloves. This price is the same I charge the Ohio groups, mrs Nethers chrg is 5$ per person, and .50 cents per lb there after, just remember there is no guarantee on great rock , but I’ll work to find some n cover it up for that date." I can't commit 100% as I said in my last post... We are certainly going to try. I can only commit that if I am not back to work full time we will be there as part of a scenic cross country drive, stopping to visit my relatives in Kentucky.
