I took these out last night. The big ones were collected by me. The small pieces are from a friend who occasionally hires me to tumble and drill holes to make beads which he and his wife then make into jewelry. I've got about 200 holes to start drilling today. Here's a lapidary tip for you: use earbuds to listen to podcasts while doing loud lapidary work. It keeps me entertained and I can drill 25% more holes before starting to get loopy. Here are a couple of weird ones. Drummond Island Rocks , are these pudding stones? The matrix on the left rock looks way too white and the right rock looks too gray. I'm leaning toward "no" on the left and "yes" on the right based more on the look of the red parts. The red in the left rock looks more like granite and in the right it looks like jasper. Other side. Note the large amount of metal in the right rock.

Don't know how you drill that many holes without going crazy. I've long used the ear buds, whether cutting grass, cutting rocks, staining the deck, etc. I go back and forth between music and podcasts. It does help make the job more enjoyable.
Good looking pile of pudding!

Good looking pile of pudding! They pay me well, so when the insanity hits, I think about money. I also take about a week to do it, an hour or so at a time.

I have to work hard some times not to be envious of people who live in areas where it is much easier to find neat rocks for working with. Your puddingstones look great.

Nice batch Rob. I just finished up a batch of them that I dry tumbled. I'll take some pictures when I get back to the Lower Peninsula. I would say no to the one on the left and yes to the one on the right. I have seen a bunch like the left one and they seem more like quartz and granite instead of quartz and jasper. Just finished taking a walk down the road in the rain in collected a couple pounds to put in the tumbler.

Chuck Looks like tomorrow is supposed to be a little nice weather than today, it was cloudy here all day, but I managed to get the grass cut. I spent a lot of time cutting crosses in the basement too. It’s been hard to stay inside lately because the weather has been so nice. I was actually sort of happy to see it was cloudy today so I had an excuse to stay insid and play with rocks.
