Lemme see ... another catch up ... This rough I got from Kingsley North. What I received had quite a few flatter pieces. According an inter-web article I read flat Bots are less desirable ... Kinda like the flat ones myself, "scenic" looking on the flats, Bands/Fortifications on the sides. So K ... let's see some rocks. 1 IMG_3594 by Ken Vancil, on Flickr 2 IMG_3597 by Ken Vancil, on Flickr 3 IMG_3600 by Ken Vancil, on Flickr 4 IMG_3603 by Ken Vancil, on Flickr 5 IMG_3608 by Ken Vancil, on Flickr 6 IMG_3611 by Ken Vancil, on Flickr 7 IMG_3612 by Ken Vancil, on Flickr 8 IMG_3617 by Ken Vancil, on Flickr 9 IMG_3620 by Ken Vancil, on Flickr 10 IMG_3624 by Ken Vancil, on Flickr 11 IMG_3626 by Ken Vancil, on Flickr 12 IMG_3631 by Ken Vancil, on Flickr Next three to me arevpretty cool. You’re spoiling us, Ken. How are we supposed to feel about our own rocks after looking at all these beauties?

Stunning Ken! how long did you tumble them... like a year in 80 grit to get them so well shaped?
After a month tumbling in 80 grit, mine only showed small windows of patterns (the rest was coated with a thick candy shell). For Bots like you turned out I would easily dedicate a tumbler for a year!

The bulk of the rest rest probably nine to twelve weeks with some of the largest out to sixteen weeks. I don't use 80 grit, although did for a long time 'cuz it came with my original tumbler kit. These were done using 30 grit in a high speed tumbler. For the tumblers you've got listed there I'd be using 60/90 or even 46/70 in the 6 & 12# tumblers. Either of these out grind 80 by a fair way.

Thanks for the info Ken tkvancil I now use 60/90 grit for my continuous QT12 runs, but I will try out the 46/70 and lengthen the tumbling duration in the future. The pleasure gained is worth the extra time spent! I currently have the QT12 dedicated running an assortment of Jaspers in 60/90 - pulling individual stones out around the 5-6 week mark. So far I have enough to fill my UV-18 half way... so I probably will not get around to Agates for another 2-4 weeks. This next time I will try out blue bots... Fun! Glenn

Another winning batch. Can't ever see too many Bots. You don't waste time on mediocre material, do you?
