I work at a 2000 seat theater as a stagehand doing lights and sound. This last week we have been doing the Broadway show Les Miserables. My job has been to run a Spotlight from the top of a tower Onstage. Plus the 30 foot tower is an automated setpiece and moves across the stage frequently, rather exciting at times, and a great viewpoint to see the show from.
I'm sitting on top of that tower right now waiting for our 9th and final show in our theater. This is a hugely great show that everyone should see. After tonight, I will have run spotlight for 33 performances of Les Mis.

I love that play. We saw it years ago in San Francisco.
It must be a fun job!

Yes , I very much love my job and enjoy going to work everyday. Starting Tuesday we have two days of Sesame Street Live. Friday and Saturday is Three Dog Night and Rodney Carrington.
The movie is very good and the singing is not pantomimed, The live performance is more powerful though. This was my favorite song "At The End Of The Day".

Wooferhound let me just say that I am completely green with jealousy!! Les Mis is my all time favorite show. I've seen it 4 times and certainly would see it again in a heartbeat! I took my daughter when she was about 13 to see it and she still listens to the sound track. She's a junior in college now and the local trivia team that she founded is called Les Quizerables. The story has a way of getting under your skin (in a good way). For everyone who hasn't seen it live, Do Not judge the production by the movie(s). That would be the equivalent of judging a book by its movie. (well actually Les Mis was a novel first...so I'm guilty of my own analogy). I think I just found my Spotify play list for work today

There are people that travel around with that show and will tell you how many Dozen/Hundred times they have seen it, Yes it is an amazing show but Get A Life. This production travels around between cities in 12 tractor-trailer trucks then requires over 50 people and 2 days to set it up. Here a couple of photos from the Load-In last week. This is taken from the lighting position over the audience And from onstage Here is one of the automated towers that has a spotlight on top, there is a tower on each side of the stage and several times they travel to centerstage until they are touching. This was taken from the top of my tower at the spotlight position Me looking out at the audience and orchestra about a minute before the show started A great place to see the performance but the sound could have been better
