That's worth an atta boy! I filled my underwear with those shiny obsidians. I'll send them to you after they have been there about a week.

I got 3 more days to complete the next load of that fine obsidian you sent years ago rockpickerforever. Will be hard to go to sleep. I will send some polished ones to you(that did not reside in the underwear). They are so beat up from all those experiments I did on them. Some probably tumbled 10 times. Mom used to say things that are 'off-color' like wearing a halter top to a wedding were 'tacky'. A deep south southern term. So tacky tumbles are on the way like red glass: Some of that fine obsidian you sent:

Thought you'd appreciate it Now work your wonders on it. Worst case scenario, you screw it up. So what? It's a learning experience! I think it will turn out swell, even if you do have no practical use for it!

When going to Ga Tech in downtown Atlanta the ladies of the night would cut through the campus. I remember cutting up and kidding with them asking for student discounts.

Very impressive work James, think you could do labradorite with that rig? Living in the land of enchanted granite fine pink felspar is common here. Will give local felspar a try. If it polishes out then labradorite will be a certain target.

Vibration test in spring direction with hoppers mounted and full of rocks. Range of acceptable vibration for soft rocks using basic tools. This situation is similar to a truck with stiff springs. 1) truck with no load delivers rough ride with sharp impulses. 2) truck fully loaded to specified amount delivers softer ride. Added weight is the controlling factor. Sitting in the middle of the truck is probably the smoothest ride, riding over the springs probably delivers the roughest ride. You need to figure out Air Ride for the soft ones............................MrP

You need to figure out Air Ride for the soft ones............................MrP Wonder if a rubber pad between the base and the new pipe holder thingy would cushion the ride for soft rocks and still allow the motion. Or maybe between the pipe and hoppers - which would probably require a new piece of pipe.

Or a Variac Transformer I tell you woofer. I am leaving well enough alone at this point. I have fooled around doing soft rocks and fails too many times. I have used those Variacs on heaters, well made devices.
