Merry Christmas everyone!
It's been a heck of a year personally and here on the board. This was my first full year of retirement if you can call it that - more like working at home/unemployment but who's counting. Eva and I care for my 90yo momma and we started the year with her breaking her back and we ended the year with her breaking her back. In between it was a pretty smooth ride - Eva and I are tied to the house in ways we are not used to so it's been some getting accustomed to it and learning how to adapt. We're definitely jonesing to get out and take a long trip and breath the desert air and maybe let loose a little bit.
Thank you sincerely to rockjunquie and krazydiamond for your steadfast attention to detail and good honest leadership both here and on the Facebook group page. Thank you to everyone who jumped in financially and helped us take possession of the board in Q1. A lot of folks contributed a lot of hard earned money and time to participate so I don't want anyone to feel left out but I'd be remiss if I didn't specially thank our friend jakesrocks. He did a lot more than just contribute the most money in the auctions, he helped rally the troops and generated a lot of activity in the process - Don we are thinking about you this holiday season and sending good vibes to help you in your fight. With Don's help, together it took a group effort but we succeeded and saved the forum from whatever could have happened - fill in the blank ______. There's a lot of ways it could have gone but I like the way it went and I would like to think that a few of you do too and that it's a bit better even than it was before we did what we did.
So here's to you. Here's to us and a fantastic 2018. With the get-together plans already in place - Quartzite in late January, Ohio in July, and other plans in the formation stages - lets make the greatest year so far for bringing forum folks together in real life sharing our passion for rocks... finding them, cutting them, shaping them, whatever else our passion is.
I wish I could buy you all a beer but I can't - so I'll just sit here and sip on this VERY strong Christmas Ale and toast with you all to a happy and productive 2018 for the Rock Tumbling Hobby forum.
Prost!
