Nice batch Rob!
I really like your Turritella. Have a bunch, but never tried tumbling it. Does it take a good shine?
#3 Kambaba (sp?) any problems with that? I've seen it take a fair shine and then also come out matte. Some I have seen tumbled seemed to have trouble with pits through out the rock. (?)

I've seen it take a fair shine and then also come out matte. Some I have seen tumbled seemed to have trouble with pits through out the rock. (?) Both got nice and shiny. Some of the turritella had holes that never disappeared until the whole rock was gone. The green tree jasper has a lot of holes too, it’s hard to find a perfect piece.

Like that green tree as well. Have some nice rough, but think it may make better cabs (which I don't do) than tumbles.
No problems with the Kambaba? No pits? You use AO polish on it - and the Turritella?

There are not holes, just some indentations between the blobby shapes. It’s the stuff in picture seven that I didn’t like. It was full of holes. I put the rest of it aside to tumble in a batch of other holy rocks.

Love the Turritella and the green tree. Also love your photo experiments. Time, practice and writing down on saving the settings that work will help in the future. Photos are very good for first time with new, larger equipment.

The iPad can be heavily effected by the background Rob. If you have a lot of white in the background you can experience wash. Like 3 rocks on a 8" X 10" white background. If you cover most of the white background with darker rocks it should help. Not sure how the iPad samples light, seems to average it over a wide area. Could be a setting, most likely is. You might consider lowering the light level too. iPad is sensitive to overly bright light source.

Dang good batch considering the fact you had a lot of problem rocks. Everything looks great.
Is the stuff in pic 7 Sea Jasper? If so it will be pitted throughout for the most part.

I think it might be, but I’m not sure. I don’t like it whatever it is. Is ocean jasper this pitted? I’ve always liked ocean jasper, I just don’t want to spend that much money, so I haven’t tumbled it.

If this is some of the rock you got from me it is most likely "Sea Jasper" that was purchased from Kingsley. I did get a few really nice finished pieces and just kept throwing the other stuff back in figuring it would get nicer eventually or just disappear. Great batch!! Really love the turritella!

Thanks for the ID, Dave. I was looking at The Rock Shed for an ID because I knew some of the stuff you sent came from there. I’ve enjoyed tumbling your rocks. It was nice that some of them had a head start in the first stage, it saved some time.

Also has some areas where softer stuff goes missing. Overall hasn't been too problematic for me.

Nice shine, Rob. My son got an iPad pro for Christmas, maybe I'll try to get some pics on it and see what happens. I've never got a shine on turitella, maybe I'll give that another go too.

I’d love to see how you do with the iPad for pictures. I decided to give it a try after seeing jamesp’s pictures.
