The black drum is a 18 water heater with 3/8 steel flanges welded on to it. There is a matching cap that bolts on to the flange (not pictured). Its lined with a stable mat. Before I built it I used an 80 quart aluminum stock pot lined with rubber floor mats. The green ones are schedule 40 PVC pipe a 14 foot 12 inch diameter length was about $120. I had a local steel place cut the caps which are supported by the center rod. It works really well. Even running it without a lining the barrels showed no wear after 8 weeks of operation. I'll post some more photos of the drums when I get a chance. I think the PVC design would work well for a scaled down 4,6,8,10 version since all of the stuff to make it is cheap or available on eBay for very little.
