I have not really been able to mess with rocks for the last month or so but today I set aside some time. I had this cab sitting on my bench so that part was done. I wanted to try to track how much labor went into one of these so I set my stopwatch. I paused it during all of the pickle pot times. 1 Hr 28 minutes was actual working time. I really do not think I could shave any time. So if it took a half hour to make the cab that would be two hours of labor total plus the value of the cab and the silver used. Just for fun I took the photos with my IPHONE instead of my normal camera. I think they came out pretty good. Did not set up the light tent for just one pendant. Redneck lighting. Almost forgot a quick picture of the back Thanks for looking Chuck

Beautiful photos and your work, too! I love cutout backs, and very appropriate one for MI's official state rock.

Jugglerguy - The first two photos were taken with the 2X lens. No cropping done. If I tried to get that close with the standard lens the camera cast a big shadow on the pendant. I'll try some more photos next batch of tumbles I get done.

Oops posted this one to the wrong section. Can Tommy or rockjunquie move it to metal smithing?

That’s a really nice Petoskey stone. Do you get that here in Alpena? The silver smithing is really great too. I love the Michigan shape cut into the back. Nice work.
Thanks for the photography information too. I think the photos look really good. Unfortunately, I don’t have the second lens, but cropping isn’t a really big deal.

Nide job on the pendant. Nice tight job on the bezel and great polish on the Petoskey

Thanks everyone. The mitten cut out seems like a hit but only works on Michigan stones. Working on a Botswana agate now and I don't think I will do a cutout in the shape of Africa.
