Hi. My name is Ted. I have been rotary tumbling rocks off and on for about thirty years; but as a complete amateur. I have read some threads here over the last month or so that have been of help. I'm just going to leave this as it is and hope to search out my answers to a problem I am having with tumbling obsidian. I have read all the suggestions but I will ask about a certain type of rotary tumbler that I used to have, but have never seen again.
Thank you.

Hi Ted and welcome from California. Cannot help with the obsidian as I haven't tried it myself, but there is more than a few here that can help.

from Tennessee. The only obsidian that I have tumbled have been Apache Tears in my Lot-O vibe. It was one of the first batches I ever ran and it was a mixture of all sorts of hardness. But somehow they all came out with a great shine and no frosting. Had to be beginners luck!

Welcome from SW Utah. New to tumbling, too, but I did finally get a batch of Obsidian to shine! I'm using a Lot O and switched to Cerium Oxide for the polish, worked great. Good luck it's a challenge!
