Great tumbles and variety from the master Cleft lip, no teeth Yes, or a cat's mouth. Thanks, Jean!

MMMMMMM sublime. Those are so shiny and purty. What is #4? Never seen that before. I don't know, Tela, but I like it. Took a nice shine. I got most of the flats from Diana deedolce. She may be able to tell us.

Number 23 caught my eye too. Cool rock. I was going to ask about the Kentucky agate too, but that question has already been answered. Thanks for taking the excellent photos, they’re always a treat.

Wowser! All are great (and wonderful pictures, too). My favorites are #2, 17, 21, and 23. My biggest fav would have to be #2. They are just so soothing.

Very nice..... On the Blue Lace Agate....#2, I assume they were tumbled....rotary or vibe or both....? How did you reduce the undercutting of the softer "white" material....?.....I noticed some of yours still showed signs of it, but a whole lot less then mine turned out. What material did you mix with that Agate....I tried other Agates, didn't go well for the Lace. Thanks for the pic's. Thank you! The blue lace was one of the more finicky tumbles I've tried lately. It tends to develop cracks, or hairline vugs, as it grinds. It took some brushing out to keep grit from moving on from step to step. I rotary tumbled the first stage and then moved on to the Lot O for finishing. It was tumbled with all the other material in these pics. I don't believe it would have done any better if tumbled on it's own. Just the nature of the material. There were some rejects that didn't make it, and others that just tumbled away to tiny pieces. The ones that made it are not all perfect, but still nice looking tumbles. Good luck with yours. Thanks for the Info.........Now I don't feel so bad and know what to expect with my re-do's........If any of mine turn out 1/2 as nice as your's I'll consider it a success.

Badass Does 26 have a vug or is the center full of exceptionally clear agate? Could be either from the pic and I saw the latter at class last week. Scott, this one has clear agate in the middle, which looks like a vug, kinda like what you are talking about.

They are stunning. I'm still on stage 1 of my first batch after 21 days. If I had followed the instructions that came with the tumbler I would be a on stage 3 with probably dire results. It's photos like this and the abundance of good advice from everyone here that have kept me patient.

Thanks, Daimon. We look forward to seeing your finished tumbles. Glad you disregarded the instructions you got with your tumbler. Patience is the name of the game. A vug is a small cavity in a rock, usually lined with crystals. Like number 26 in my photo lineup. They can be attractive features, but require a little attention at clean outs. Make sure there is no grit hiding in there before moving on to the next stage, to avoid contamination.

A vug is a space, pocket or a cavity in a rock. They can be where good things happen, or not so good. In rockhounding, generally it's where good stuff happens. For example, when digging for Herkimer 'diamonds" (actually quartz crystals), you are breaking solid, very hard dolomite. When you reach a vug, there might be nothing in it, dried mud, or handfuls of beautiful crystals. Joy!
Vugs in tumbling rocks can be interesting, but also challenging, as coarser grit from earlier stages can get trapped in the cavities and is carried forward into the next stage, scratching and ruining the finish.

Your tumbles look the same from the first batch you posted. Hard to improve perfect. Thanks, James! You actually got me interested in that first batch again. I went back and checked to see what it looked like. These were from my first go around, with the little 33B. Feb. 17, 2016
Not quite up to today's standard, but it was getting a little better by the second batch.
Fun to go back and look at the progress over a couple years.

Thanks!
