Sorry if I become long winded........Thanks's to this web-site, as the passion for perfection has grown, the excitement has increased.....! I had a few handfuls of Granite/Opal, Kambaba and Unakite that had been through 2 complete rotary grind to polish cycles...(2)......they were among other Jasper and Agates that had completed with very nice polish. Started & completed those batches 8 months ago, set-a-side the "Bad Boys".........Now, after joining this forum, I got the bug to round-up some strays and give the vibe a shot at them........threw them all together (fully aware that there was Mohs difference of .50 with all three stones). Started them out with ceramics and 3F-400 Sic. Now at the pre-polish stage, pic's to come later (regardless how they finish)....! After 3-400....a little wet. After 600 Graded......dry. Lighting a little different in the shop vs. the kitchen. I'll continue on in this thread......success or failure.....!

Ooooo - I love working with Unakite and other granitics. Can't wait to see them progress! Thanks for letting us share the journey.

Thanks.......they are still in the pre-polish vibe cycle.......looks like it's gonna take another 24hrs before I attempt actual polish. If the Covington Gold Polish #2 does not take (that stuff has worked on everything so far), I'm gonna try Cerium Oxide (a little tricky)....if that doesn't work I'll be asking for suggestions here........maybe a tin product!

Well, not like glass, but polished just the same.....a far cry from what the first two "go-arounds" gave me....:
After 8F-800....Granite only...:
Other's cycled in 800 looked similar.
All polished after 48hr pre and 48hr polish cycles.....:
Close-up of polished Kambaba & Granite......:
Used Covington's Gold Polish #2.......these stones were tough and did not yield a "gloss" as other's using #2......started noticing needle point "pits" developing on the Unakite after 600/800 cycles. No sign of such prior to those cycles.....?
So, maybe longer vibe cycles, different mix of grits or start over with 120/220 and pray....?
Anyway, sure was fun and a good learning experience.
