I have rough from The Rock Shed and The Gem Shop. Originally I was going to do a side by side comparison pics but not necessary. Quality was about the same in the amount of fractures and the variety of color/pattern. It breaks cleanly and easily along existing fractures without creating many more. A good tumbling rock IMHO. 1. Smalls, 3/8 to 3/4 for the most part. Most of my rough started in the 1 to 3 inch range. IMG_4329 by Ken Vancil, on Flickr 2. Waterlines. I thought carnelian was plain orange translucent but was happily wrong. IMG_4332 by Ken Vancil, on Flickr 3. Some nice features here. IMG_4334 by Ken Vancil, on Flickr 4. "unusual" coloring IMG_4336 by Ken Vancil, on Flickr 5. Bands. Tubes. Fortifications. IMG_4340 by Ken Vancil, on Flickr 6. Large pieces, 2 to 2 1/2 inches. IMG_4348 by Ken Vancil, on Flickr 7. Probably my favorite. IMG_4363 by Ken Vancil, on Flickr Thanks for looking and keep on rollin' them stones.

Nice batch and way different than I thought Carnelian would look like.

Love the plumes on your favorite.
I have some small Carnelians that have a lot of patterns in them. Some consider this a defect, but I love it.

Another nice batch. Who would've guessed there was that much variety in carnelian?
