Welcome from MA. Lots of nice collecting spots in NY, we take a trip every year to Herkimer for Herkimer Diamonds.

Hi Geo, welcome to the site. There have been a number of people who have come here lately asking about that tumbler. There’s a pretty good thread here about it. I’d read that before you get too far because the directions that come with most tumblers, especially the National Geographic tumbler are not accurate at all. You’ll need to run the rocks for much longer than what any manufacturer recommends. A lot of us here like to buy our supplies from The Rock Shed. They have great prices and service along with quality supplies. I also buy my coarse grit from Kingsley North. They have good prices on 46/70 and 80 grit silicon carbide. I buy fifty pounds at a time for my first stage of tumbling. You’ll find that you need much more of that grit than the other grits because your rocks spend the most time in the first stage.

Welcome from Northern California! Plus one on the Rock Shed recommendation. Little known secret but they also sell their wares on Amazon.

Welcome to the forum from North Carolina. I concur on the rock shed. They've got most, if not everything, you may need for successful tumbling.
