I enjoy cutting out shaped and tumbling them. I mostly do crosses, but I have done shamrocks and Michigan shapes and a couple others. I thought it was time to try some new ones. Here's what I came up with. I don't like the turtle much at all, the duck is ok, I kind of like the bear, but I think I should do it in a black rock. These are all Michigan rocks that I've picked up, but I haven't tumbled a lot of black Michigan rocks, so I'm not quite sure what to pick up that will look interesting and tumble well. I really like the heart, but that one took much more time since I domed it on both sides. I'll be doing more of those. The red cross came from the same slab as the heart. I found that here in Alpena. I originally thought it was jasper, but now I think it looks more like some sort of jaspelite, at least I think that might be iron in there. The cross side of the slab had much more of the silver color than the heart side of the slab. The rest of the batch was scraps from making lots of crosses.

Very nice, really like the duck. Looks like a lot of work to make all the cuts. Are you doing this with a hand coping saw or a diamond wire band saw?

Looks like a lot of work! Great job cutting them out, and they tumbled up nicely.
Fridge magnets? Or do you plan to glue some bails on them? I can see them worn around the neck on a cord by both males and females.
Thanks for sharing.

Very cool, Rob. That material looks good in a heart. The duck looks labor intensive, but came out great.

Those are great. Love the animals. I use drilled animal festish beads a lot. Why not try the side view of a fish? About the shape of a Walleye. I had some like than many years ago and can no longer find them. I love the colors of the bear.

Those are amazing! Thanks for the video showing how you do it. I never even thought about making a cutting jig like that to aid in sawing out shapes. Thanks for sharing.

The jig is so that the blade and the table (ramp) make a 90 degree angle. Without that, the bottom of the rock would get cut more than the top because the blade is wider closer to the table.

It's such a simple solution to that problem. I wrecked a nice piece of Hell's Canyon because of that a few years ago. Didn't take into account that the blade was wider at the bottom. Doh! Guess what DH is doing this weekend?

I have a new (used) saw that has the arbor at the level of the table so the blade is already perpendicular to the table. No ramp required.

those are amazing. Am I correct in assuming that you can only do something like that in a vibe?
