I have 5 loads running right now: 1,2) Lot-o to finish stages 2 through polish for both a large mixed jasper batch as well as an agate batch (botswana, moss) 3) 45-c has slabs that I cut into cabs or shaped with a tile saw from Paul (beautiful material) as well as a bunch of LSA and brazilian agates 4) Lortone 6lb barrels each have remaining agate/jasper that needs more time in stage 1, poppy jasper from Paul and some carnelian filler. 5) 2nd lortone 6lb has Mary Ellen jasper, Rio Grand agate, Crazy Lace agate from Billy as well as Maury Mountain agate and Big Diggins Plume Agate from Jeremy at river bend.

It's Monday cleanout day and I have been looking forward to this one.
- 6 pound - Today is the day that the rocks from the Traveling Rock Box come out of final polish in Cerium Oxide and plastic beads. It's not all of them but enough to have fun with. That stuff has been looking excellent while wet during the last coupla cleanouts. Will post some pictures later today in another thread. Not sure what to start next in this barrel, either start more rocks in stage 2 headed to polish, or more rough in stage 1 ?
- 6 pound - I have a terrible habit of always rolling rocks in Stage 1 course, then doing the weekly check and passing rounded rocks to a Ready bowl to go on to polish, but I don't ever start the polish stages and now there is a Full bowl of Ready Rocks. So I have been using a 6 pound barrel to run the Ready rocks through polish. Today this batch will move from stage 2 in 220 grit, into stage 3 using 600 grit and plastic beads.
- 3 pound - Perpetually running rocks from the Dollar General store in Stage 1 course grind. There might be some clear glass in there too.

Curious if you guys find pet wood in that area of California. 1 piece is from Billy and I think the other came from Walt All the rest is bots, lakers (some mine, some Billys) stuff i got off the San Joaquin river bed and other stuff I collected in Mn. A piece of OJ and a tiny piece of crazy lace. There is 1 piece of Rhondonite that I had no clue I had. Makes me excited to get back out to the mine pits That yellow and hematite piece was also found in the same pit as was the MEJ

Constantly running a Lortone 33B and a QT66 for about 5 months now. Local rock is mostly hard and extremely rough, plus I'm a bit picky so it takes a while before I move anything on. I currently have about 6-8 lbs ready to move on to medium, and another 12 lbs or so that need some grinding, shaping, or other defect removal before moving on. Here are a few photos of in-process (wet, of course.) This is all local stuff (NW Nevada) except one heel of Brazilian agate a friend tossed me. flic.kr/p/JCRHSLOne thing I've discovered is that I'm a lousy photographer with a lousy phonecam, so the 4 photos are two groups on two different backgrounds. (The dark "pops" more but induces too much orange, and the light washes out colors.) The two with the "muddy lace" are a small group that needs more work before moving on. The other two I'll move on to medium as soon as I get a vibe. Thanks for looking.

arghvarkScore one for me for actually being able to identify something!! Do you find that they have a lot of pits, holes and fractures? I've been running a few since February and I have no clue how I am going to get any that are decent to send in

The stuff is very challenging. This region has been so geologically and seismically active for jillions of years that a lot of the rock is pretty beat up.

Let will just keep rolling till I get them somewhat decent I haven't looked back though to see what you're using for tumblers but I find the small barrels are MUCH slower for this stuff. To start it off I use only 6lb barrels with 46/70 grit, and it goes a lot faster. There is so much grind going on that I often need to add a little bit more rough after a week or two. Doesn't help with the fractures though. The site is also pretty annoying because it's really large, and in certain areas the float is just really densely covered with stuff that at first blush looks like it could be interesting. Lots of bending, windowing, and jettisoning later...

I have a 3lb harbor freight and a 4lb Lortone Plus I took a dremel to them to grind down some areas They for the most part are looking good The problem is the holes that start appearing and the fractures. I have 3 pieces in there and a whole box waiting to go in. It may just turn out that everyone has these problems and they get sent in with them, or no one turns any in ?

My two 6 pound barrels are nearing the end of some polish stages. One of the barrels is running Final Polish with Cerium Oxide. Other barrel is running prepolish AO-1000, In two weeks there will be about 12 pounds of stones from final polish. Same rocks in both batches, mostly local self collected stones and more stones from the Family Dollar store. and of course a 3 pound barrel running Family Dollar store rocks in stage 1. About to run out of these rocks ...
