My two 6 pound barrels are nearing the end of some polish stages. One of the barrels is running Final Polish with Cerium Oxide. Other barrel is running prepolish AO-1000, In two weeks there will be about 12 pounds of stones from final polish. Same rocks in both batches, mostly local self collected stones and more stones from the Family Dollar store. and of course a 3 pound barrel running Family Dollar store rocks in stage 1. About to run out of these rocks ... Yeah and then you can start all over again

I think we need to go rock collecting with arghvark. Where are you located ? Your flickr rocks are fine. I agree! That would be just awesome with sauce! I live in NW Nevada, in a little town called Fallon, about an hour east of Reno. There are a lot of interesting sites around here. Most of the ones I have frequented so far are pretty well known, but a lot of them still have rich float and if you're energetic, digging can be extremely rewarding. There is also an incredible amount of unfound stuff out there; dedicated prospectors are still finding really amazing stuff. I'm a teacher, so have lots of spare time during the summer. Bring water and hats. :-D

I might go for a trip to Fallon, I'll have to pay attention.
I've had some fun tumbles in the last few weeks. I bought a box of "scraps" on here and some tumbled really well, wish I knew what the material is. I've also done a couple of batches of Obsidian, came out an 8 on a 1-10 scale, still need to keep trying. Right now I have a mixed batch of collected Jasper and purchased Petrified Wood in the Lot O. My 33A has some small pieces of collected Obsidian, one of the QT66 has collected Jasper and the other a mix of wood, agate, some Gary Green from the auction.

It's Monday cleanout day and I have been looking forward to this one. - 6 pound - Today is the day that the rocks from the Traveling Rock Box come out of final polish in Cerium Oxide and plastic beads. It's not all of them but enough to have fun with. That stuff has been looking excellent while wet during the last coupla cleanouts. Will post some pictures later today in another thread. Not sure what to start next in this barrel, either start more rocks in stage 2 headed to polish, or more rough in stage 1 ? - 6 pound - I have a terrible habit of always rolling rocks in Stage 1 course, then doing the weekly check and passing rounded rocks to a Ready bowl to go on to polish, but I don't ever start the polish stages and now there is a Full bowl of Ready Rocks. So I have been using a 6 pound barrel to run the Ready rocks through polish. Today this batch will move from stage 2 in 220 grit, into stage 3 using 600 grit and plastic beads. - 3 pound - Perpetually running rocks from the Dollar General store in Stage 1 course grind. There might be some clear glass in there too. Wooferhound - I hadn't seen any rocks for sale at Dollar General. Please elaborate...

Wish I was around back then. Most of those dollar store rocks look exactly like Jersey rocks.
