Doesn't look like any of the Mexican crazy lace I have. Can't help with an ID, but it is lacy.

Kentucky agate also came to mind. It's wildly variable material and I have a piece that has a really 'dirty' background which includes greens and blacks like yours. I got it from the KY agate guy and the Powwow in Quartzsite so I trust the source. My rock pile is kind of a mess but I'll keep my eye out for it.

Looks exactly like “Lago De Fuego”, Lake of Fire. I purchased mine from Rivera Brothers from Mexico . They set up and sold perhaps 200 pounds at the Oregon Madras show perhaps 20 years ago. Very nice.

Thanks! Most of those look like the seam agate. These are quite big. I use Startpage for a search engine. The images I found there look more like my slabs.

I did a search for "Lagos de Fuego Agate, Chihuahua" using the Google link on RTH. It gave this result for Lowell's elementary "Am AgtJasp Project: T-eggs and Nodule Request." Then I did a "find on page" for simply "Fuego" and it led me to this thread of Mel's Sabre52 . The last photo of that thread was supposed to be a photo of "Lagos de Fuego Agate, Chihuahua" but evidently Mel had a problem with it not posting way back in 2011. (Not the recent PB extortion.) Sabre52 do you happen to still have a photo?
You can see how the links of most of the photos of this thread have been broken, but many are still available. I had forgotten how many great pics from a lot of different members went into the Lowell's project. They were great for making IDs.
Won't help with finding this particular photo, since it apparently never got into the project. But I need to look for Lowell's finished works. Even the pics from PB should be there, as he saved the entire thing somewhere else.

Thanks Jean. I did some more snooping and found a reference to an ad "Lagos del Fuego Agate (Lake of Fire), Mexico, no description, adv., Rivera & Sons, Lapidary Journal, v. 31, no.4, p.1015." That's it, all I could find. I hope Mel can help.

I've never had a lot of the Lagos de Fuego material but what I did have was all either vein material or thin shelled broken nodules. Didn't look like your pic but I only had a few pounds. Yours looks Moroccan to me too. I thought Dryhead initially too but it did not look quite right. I Googled Moroccan agate images and checked my Zenz books and that mad me lean towards one of the nodular Moroccan types from Zaer-Zaiane. Zenz shows some very like your example.....Mel
Photobuttholes took all my pics hostage. Can't post them anymore.
