So i have re taken photos of all my stones to update my website. Playing with the camera settings i found one setting which had drastically been reducing the color / quality but with these new found settings, new lights and setup im able to get better photos. You can see more when i update my website. I have well over 100 items to put up or show better photos. these are just a few for example. agate (alaskan marcasite) arctic circle and above alaskan thunderegg jasper alaskan heulandite morocco jasp agate alaskan schist / garnet alaskan heulandite with pyrite moss jasper

So, one must ask, what setting are you using? Photos look good.

Much improved from what I have seen you post previously........Just a tip, depending on the color scheme of the stones, many times the background can add or detract from the true color quality of the subject.......and the camera (if digital) will try to compensate for the reflection. Try a dark solid color towel or handkerchief, bandana.......white backgrounds don't always do the subject justice......I use black quite often.

Yes, i have found that in the past, however finding a new setting it only pulls color based on the center point of the screen and not any surrounding spots. It can be tricky with multi color stones as even the slightest movement on the stone itself can change the color a little. With this feature, all the photos ive taken show the true colors of the stone, i may have a couple before i found this feature that i need to re-shoot. Most of the lower end cameras ive seen (standard point and shoots) dont have the features my camera has (samsung wb-100).

I have canon cameras but I see yours also has the spot function. I use auto white balance, white balance can make a lot of difference in colors.. Love the macro mode in camerea these days. sometime reflections serve to show the polish on your rocks. Keep up the good work.
