New to the board, but not to rocks and minerals. Have been collecting and polishing for at least 3 decades, have a complete set up in my shop. Just need the weather to break to start working some "new" materials, have just about run through everything I brought inside to work over the winter. The rule; I am only allowed to bring in my flat lap machine and the 8 inch drum set for the winter or else I would bring it all into the house..lol. Most of what I finish is wrapped by my wife and daughters (will post pictures of their/our work soon) Always looking for fellow enthusiasts to head up and collect Superior agates, we make many trips each year and are now waiting for enough snow to melt to get to the best spots. Ice is mostly gone from the shoreline now, even when it's gone......it's damn cold right now. Just returned from Leland with the biggest Leland blue of my life pushed up by ice and another bucket of Petoskey stones. Always open to learning more and more......... I ended up here after reading through some of the posts, seems to be a very knowledgeable group with some very nice work being shown.

Welcome to the forum. I am in southeast Michigan but I have a cottage on Drummond Island so I do most of my hounding there.

Thank you all. Test pictures of some wire wrap. Sorry for the poor quality, just a test.

Okay, that worked. Here is some Leland from this weekend. The large one is 15 lbs and shows how the slag is actually formed with the other impurities swirled in. Once they break up by wave action, smaller chunks are found with the impurities worn away and just the "glass" is found..

Welcome from Tennessee! Michigan native that really misses the lakes but not the show.
Not sure if it is just me, but I can't see your photos. Photobucket no longer likes hosting, so that may be part of the problem. Just a thought.

You and Pat made me go look to see what you were referring to, as I was able to see the photos this morning. I was actually kind of surprised, as I noticed they were from PB. Now, they look like what we're used to seeing from Pee Bucket hosting. I guess they caught up with him.

I just tapped on one of the PB ads, and that took me to his PBZ album. Interesting.

I just tapped on one of the PB ads, and that took me to his PBZ album. Interesting. Didn't work for me. When I clicked on one of those above, it takes me to a PB page where the photo is still blocked. ETA: Clicked on his user name on the page where his "blocked" photo is and was then able to see his albums.

Hmm.......Haven't used Photobucket in a bit. Apparently; they are now holding my images hostage until I pay them, along with anyone else who used them. Going to have to move to another 3rd party host and will re-post the photos later today. Sorry about that, was not aware PB had changed their TOS to include extortion.

Solved the issue. Now with Imgur. Here are the wrapped stones that are out. They have many more that are bagged up, ready to go. Some are made completely of recycled copper wire, the rest are square and round wire jewelers. I feel a bit like I'm betraying the artists here, showing you what is out rather than the ones they would pick to show you. Will have to make that right later on.
