Looking good! Haven't done an obsidian cab yet. I understand there are tricks to cutting it, and cabbing it. RTH member tntmom has directions on here someplace. Her cabs are marvelous, and she tells how to do it. Glad your daughter is better. Good luck!

Thank you all It's been a very stressful week Needed to crank the music up loud and work out some tension The obsidian is a blast to work with, but getting a great polish takes awhile.

I hope your daughter makes a full recovery. Talk about stress! I'm sure mom got some gray hairs from that!
Your obsid looks great! Yes, it is a bear to polish. You did a great job orienting it. I have some real nice rainbow, but I'm afraid to cut it because I don't want to lose the color.

Reminded me of an auroras borealis. Next im working with a nice piece of rainbow

Great job Ali I love the freeform shapes, and the polish. What's the secret to polishing Obsidian? I have cut a few but I am not happy with the polish, I tried everything in my arsenal, lots of different polishes on lots of different buffs but still could only manage a so so polish.

I have cut a few but I am not happy with the polish, I tried everything in my arsenal, lots of different polishes on lots of different buffs but still could only manage a so so polish. Polishing was done on a flat lap with some powdery pinkish stuff. I forgot the name of it (blush2) Next time I'm out there, I'll get the picture of it. The polishing was the hardest part. They showed me how to move it across the edge of the pad at an angle, instead of flat on the pad. Spent forever and I've still got some little spots I missed.

Nice looking cabs you got from the bunch... Continue on, crank that radio up!!! LOL It's so easy to work with and I just love all the different types. Took me forever to choose a slab. I was dry burnishing it and the dang wheel bite me. The glove didnt do much to protect me. I also did something dumb and burned myself when I swiped the piece I was working with across my arm. Man that gets hot

So glad you daughter will make a full recovery. Nothing more stressful than having those we love hospitalized.
Your obsidian is beautiful. The flash of blue is awesome. I can't wait to see the rainbow!

Thanks Ali Life has a habit of smacking us all in the face sometimes, I hope everything works out for you.
Pink stuff sounds like Cerium Oxide, I did try that but the buff could be contaminated so I will make a new one and give it a go.

Life is definitely a roller coaster sometimes I messaged him and that's what he says it is. I would say try new pad and have patience. It took me long time.
