I have been tumbling my BC Jade happily now for quite some time in my rotary tumblers and ran it through prepolish and polish. it all came out smooth and with some nice shapes but no shine. i was very disappointed when it came out with no shine at all. i did some research and found i used the wrong polish. i was using aluminum and apparently you are supposed to use chrome oxide with Jade. i have been trying to track this polish down here in Canada and am not having much luck. anyone know where i can find the right polish. i acquired a lot of jade in my recent travels and i would love to see it shining. thanks

Are you sure that you aren't asking for Cerium Oxide ?

When I researched the topic, the answers came back that chrome oxide is the best to use for Jade. There were mentions of Cerium Oxide and Tin oxide but mixed reviews on how well it polishes the jade. I would like to find the chrome oxide but I am contemplating trying the cerium oxide because it seems easier to find. I find buying from the States and shipping into Canada causes a huge headache at the border with all sorts of duty charges and would rather just buy locally. so far Kingsley North is the only place I see that sells chrome oxide. And they do warn people on their site of custom and duty charges. That said, Amazon sells Cerium Oxide so I might try that.

Give the others a go before trying Chrome oxide, it is seriously messy stuff. I have polished Jade with tin oxide in the tumbler, it had a good shine but not a patch on the shine on the Agate in the same batch.
