Absolutely new to all things rocks---was propelled into buying a used rotary tumbler, a vibratory tumbler and a grit assortment, by a relative giving me 2 tiny pieces of Alexandrite (from Brazil).
The grit isn't here yet, and I intend to post a picture of these wee little stones as soon as my cheapo digital usb 'microscope' from ebay arrives.
Many searches on the web produced zero tumbling information targeted at Alexandrite, which I'm guessing is due to its rarity, so I'm open to any and all opinions on how to tumble these stones correctly.
Thanks,
Mike

Welcome from Ohio! Plenty of folks here with a lot of tumbling knowledge, but unfortunately, I'm not one of them.

Welcome to RTH.
I would not tumble the alexandrite. If good enough quality I would get them faceted.

Welcome to the forum from Central Arizona. I agree with vegasjames on not tumbling Alexandrite. If they are wee little stones now tumbling would most likely make them microscopic.

HI and welcome from Fresno, California.
Agree with above-Do not tumble the Alexandrite. Either have them faceted or leave as is

Many thanks for the friendly greetings! I've been reading as many posts about the Mini-sonics as I can, so am just now getting to reading the commentary/advice about the Alexandrite stones. I do have to leave the door open for the possibility that they might not actually be Alexandrite; that's what I was told. My cheapo USB scope isn't here yet, so I thought it might be of some use to shoot a couple of pictures with my phone and an old camera, so y'all could see what I'm looking at. The pictures are low quality, but better than nothing at this point. The smaller stone weighs .522 gram; the other weighs .675 gram. Attachments:
