Would anyone care to post some pics of your setups for cleaning grit from your rocks? I'm looking for ideas on a slick setup for rinsing. Right now I am just using the hose on a colander that sits on top of a 5gal bucket which I then empty onto my gravel driveway but that bucket fills up with water so fast it isn't very efficient. I have visions of a plastic utility tub with a pvc pipe draining into a small pit dug in the ground filled with pea gravel or something but don't really want to leave anything unsightly like a tub outside my house permanently, so I would like something portable I could bring back inside the garage. I just know you experts have something really excellent you have came up with. TIA!

Is something like this what ya had in mind ? Legs were busted off the sink when I found it so I threw a stand together for it . The screen hanging on the side is made with 1/8" hardware cloth , sprayed with Plasti Dip . Most times I set the colander on the screen to rinse . The screen catches the little ceramics that fall through the colander so they don't go down the drain . The borax keeps the weeds down in the drainage ditch . Hope this helps .

yes, thanks Rich! I see your downspout there. I have some work to do so cleanout isn't such a pain. the easier something is to do, the more you'll do it, right?

My initial intention was to recover unused grit. But having this cleanout sink with grit recovery has greatly simplified my cleanouts. Plus it takes less than an hour to cleanout 3 barrels including a 15 minute washing step between stages.

Did that close the holes, make them smaller, minimize rust? Not a dumb question at all . I should have said I use the colander for smaller batches or if there is a lot of ceramics , big loads get dumped directly on the screen . The screen is galvanized so without the sprayed on goop it would leave shiny silver streaks on the rocks .

We use a folding table that is 46" x 24" x 33" tall. Faucet hooked up to garden hose and drains into gravel catch area.We use a gradation screen more frequently than a colander because it gives more surface area to rinse and more area for the water to drain.
