I see from the flickr photo info you use the EF100mm f/2.8L macro lens for the closeups... I've been thinking of getting that one but haven't pulled the trigger yet cause they're not cheap ($900ish up here in Canada). Are you happy with yours and do you use the Image Stabilization at all??

11 and 18! All look fantastic as always, very impressive for 100% rotary imo. 11 is not OJ?
Dave - what did you change up for your light source?

Thanks for the comments. The green one is Bloodstone. The wife picked it up and said it would be perfect for her as a "worry stone"...whatever that is. I am learning to like the lens more, but I still need to play with it more to figure out how to maximize it. I think Jeremy txrockhunter uses one, and he's had amazing results with it. But he also uses a focus stack to maximize his depth of field. Since I am using a tripod, I am not using the IS at all. I seem to recall reading somewhere to not use it for tripod mounted shots.

Thanks Grant. No, I don't believe 11 is OJ, but maybe someone will come in and say differently. As far as the light source, we just did a kitchen remodel, and all of the overhead lighting is 5000k LED with diffusers on them. When they are not dimmed, they're pretty bright. I did a test shot with the cell the other night, and I was fairly pleased, though I still have to bump up the exposure and ISO. Before, I was either in the garage or under a skylight. It was a nice change, though I'd still like to get something bright like what Garage Rocker uses, just so I can close down the aperture and increase depth of field.

Holy crow, you sure got the shine on those!
Loving 11, the bloodstone and the eyeball stone - 29.
11 does look like it could be some sort of lace, but I've never seen lace with orbs before.

Thanks Robin. Ha...eyeball stone. Great description. Look closely and you'll see some faint banding being a laker. I was leaning toward some type of lace as well for #11, but it's the orbs that are the issue. Unfortunately, I don't even who I got it from, so I don't have a location. Maybe it's time to see if Sabre52 recognizes it. Mel?

No I am not. They are the new recessed can lights in the kitchen ceiling. I just covered the island countertop with background paper.

Very nice batch aDave+++ No. 11 looks like some of the Mexican Lace that I purchased from the Rock Shed a month (+) ago... VERY beautiful and way more of a shine than I managed to get. The plumes in No.15 are stunning... reminds me of looking down on strands of seaweed while snorkeling. Thanks for sharing this! Glenn

Good stuff, Dave. Lots of little sparkles. Your new photo set-up sure shows off the shine. Some nice material, you're doing a good job showcasing that Lavic. Number 11/12 is a unique piece, I like that one a lot.

As far as #11, it looks like you nailed it (see beefjello's comment below). Thanks for the info. Like you, I like the plume agates as well.
