Hello- I have have a few issues with cracks in the later stages of polishing in LOT-O I've always used the small ceramic media. These are what I use therockshed.com/grit/Sm_Ceramic.jpgThis week I purchased mixed sized media but when they arrived the larger ones are fairly large. They are a mix of the small and this size therockshed.com/grit/Lg_Ceramic.jpgAre these too big to use? They are the size of most of the rocks I polish! Or should I be using much more smaller cermaic than I have been?

Using the larger ceramic media probably will not hurt... But if the large ones are the same size as the stones you are processing, I would use only the smaller ceramics.
If you are running a load of brittle or highly fractured stone (example - Amethyst or Iolite) I would change my ceramic ratio to 50-50 rocks to ceramics - using only small ceramics (or 0.25in polished aquarium gravel).

I use that same mixture. I haven’t had a problem with it.

I tumble in a uv-18 vibe for polishing cabs and use a 50/50 mix of small media and cabs with good results.
