Kokoweef is a new one for me. What is it and where do you get it? It's very pretty, though. Of course, every single one of your cabs is a beauty. Love the coral and the lace, tho!

Love your descriptions of cabs. It is helping me learn how to ID material. As always, the cabs are great.

Interesting story about kokoweef- It is a stalactite cave onyx. It is quite rare with permission rarely given by the owners to collect it. The cave is part of a long ago "lost" treasure of gold of which people are still looking for. They would rather find the gold than the onyx. eta- meant to mention it is in Ca. I always thought it was Hawaii.

I searched for info on Kokoweef Cave onyx when I picked up several pieces at an estate sale about five years ago. You can no longer collect it (as far as I know), but it looks like rough, slabs and cabs are available for purchase online - eBay, Etsy, etc. Photos of the material link to kokoweef cave onyx Google search .
There is a lot of information on the caves, but most of it is about people searching for that lost River of Gold.
More info Cocoweef Caverns and Mines, in Mojave Underground forum Lots of links at that link.
Mojave Project That one more about people looking for the gold.
Considering that you cannot (supposedly) collect it anymore, there seems to be good availability of it online. There is probably a lot of it in old collections that is becoming available as old rockhounds pass on, and their heirs liquidate their estates.

More beauties! Thanks for posting. Really like the pristine Indonesian agatized coral. After seeing your kokoweef I'm going to check my onyx stash. I'm normally not too crazy about onyx, but I do like the cabs you made of it.

Beautiful pieces. Do you stabilize or treat your coral in any way? Thank you. I have some self collected that isn't fully "agatized" if that makes sense. Some pieces even have open/flaky/crumbly spots on small areas of the slabs I cut.

Just bought a 4 pound piece of the Indonesian coral I found going through an old collection. Will post a picture when the showers stop and have a chance to unload the truck. Also picked up about 350 pounds of Brazilian, a bucket of Choyas, a bucket of Colorado wood and a bucket of miscellaneous agate. Colorado wood had great color, looking forward to cutting it
They had a large piece of the Coral, maybe 15 or more pounds. Think I will see how the smaller one cuts before I go back and get the larger piece.
