The Mary Ellen Master spoke. His subjects, bowed, then went wild.

Now that's a nice pile of rocks. Is the Mary Ellen you come across found in gravel pits or can it be surface collected anywhere publicly? This looks like it will make some really nice cabs. Chuck

In this world there is regular Mary Ellen and then there is Billy's Mary Ellen. Wherever you are finding that gorgeous stuff make sure you're not being followed on your way in - or your way out too for that matter

Chuck This material is out of a mine. Can be fractured. They are supposed to cleaning out a new area. There is material material found in our local gravel pits most people looking for Lakers pass this material up.

Are they mining specifically for Mary Ellen or is it a different type of mine and just happens to have Mary Ellen too? I had not heard too much about MEJ till you introduced it here. Top notch lapidary material. Chuck

It is an Iron ore mine and the material is in thick layers. Any thing on the surface can oxidize into some different colors. Some of the material you see here has been laying on the surface for 30 plus years.
