jamesp I have been running 80 AO as my Pre-Polish, using old 80AO slurry as the thickner. Then after 8 to 9 days in the Rotary, I move to Polish stage in the UV-18. I wonder what would happen if I ran my Polish Stage using only the AO slurry in the Rotary? I think my UV-18 is getting a bit rough for certain material and I am considering staying in the Rotary. Or another way to ask the question, how fast does AO breakdown?. Obviously that's related to size and smoothness of the material and maybe barrel speed. Probably going to give that a shot here in a few days. Thanks Henry

How well does the AO80 do as a prepolish? I have used AO80 and let it run for about 3 weeks in a rotary barrel but found that I still needed to run the stones through separate pre and polish stages in order to get a nice result. Mind you, I"m not using a vibe for polish so maybe I'm making extra work for myself?

I don't have experience running AO 80 till break down in a rotary. I have run AO 80 and coarser AO 22 in a vibe till I get a wet shine so I never looked back at using it in a rotary. My Vibrasonic likes those coarse AO's. My Lot-O does NOT like breaking them down at all. It barely breaks down AO 220. However the Lot-O breaks down SiC 220 easily.
