A few photos from the weekend Makers Market.
The venue was a 116 year old opera house that is being restored. It was boarded up for almost 50 years. Is a time capsule and many of the original items and features remain. I will highlight some of these above each photo.
There was a mix of artists and crafters. One local farm was represented. Spent a lot of time talking with those folks. They have bees, raise herbs. Use the herbs for natural soaps, oils, lotions and salts with a beeswax base.
I did not have time or space to do a mock up of my space, so winged it. Was the first time I had ever used most of these display items. Decided on a mix of higher end and costume quality items. Had a lot of Halloween themed costume pieces, since the Opera House is hosting a haunted house and Day of the Dead dance. Also had slabs, cabs, tumbled stones and crystals available. The Apache Tears were a hit. Gave some to children and sold some to adults. Sales were almost divided between higher end and costume jewelry. Some slabs and cabs were sold.
Learned a lot of things. Main one is that I cannot do this by myself. We had almost 3 hours for set up. Took me half that time just to safely unload car. I was still setting up when customers started arriving. Some of the other artists were doing the same.
There are some upcoming opportunities that are offering 6’ x 6’ or 8’ x 8’ spaces. I had a tough time coming up with a semi-cluttered display within a 10’ x 10’ space.
I was in a lot of pain by the end of day 2. Just cannot keep head erect for that long. Thankfully had my daughter and a friend help take down most of space and load car. Just need until it stops raining (in a few days), to unload rest. In the mean time, will drive to work with a loaded car.
Enjoy the photos.
Starting with my space. These were taken before I had everything on display boards. After that are some from the entire Market.
When potential customers saw of my space when entering building. Some jamesp tumbled glass, slabs from drocknut, counter scraps, copper bracelets and my creations.

Other side of my display included promo materials from local arts related organizations.
2 spa
Misc. photos from this side. Note the oval dishes. They are Buffalo Pottery restaurant ware. Vintage 1920’s. Love them for displays. Was fortunate to pick about 40 of these for $10.00 total. Some guitar picks from a former active member here who is now only lurking. Message section will not load, so I cannot post his name.

Back of space. I sat a display board on top of early 1900’s theater chairs. Worked well and doubled for seating.

One of the pieces I refuse to reduce price on. Contains 1980’s vintage Sleeping Beauty and Kingman Turquoise. Some natural red coral and same vintage shell beads. Traditional Navajo style Jacia necklace.

Copper bracelets a former Dine’ co-worker sent me to sell for him. Sold a few. Funny thing was I was offered $20.00 for the counter scrap they were sitting on. Told customer I did not want to sell that one, but had many more that were of similar shape. He took a business card and said he would be contacting me.

View when customers entered. Note the late 40’s early 50’s advertising curtain. This was one of the treasures that remained in great condition in the opera house. There are 4-8 chair units in the building, 156 total chairs. We did not have room on stage for all, so some had to remain in center.

A very eclectic and well known local potter was next to me. Wish I would have photographed his baseball glove and ball set. It contained leather lacing on the ball and glove. Priced at $100.00. No it did not sell. That did not bother him.

Did not get any more photos to share. There were two other people there with jewelry. One had beads strung on elastic necklaces. Crystal and stone healing jewelry. Her young daughter was making fimo clay jewelry on site.
The other had wire wrapped jewelry. Considering the quality of stones used and wrapping quality, I found them rather pricey. $50.00 and up for most pendants. Used a lot of dyed Howlite, man made stones, ceramics, etc. Even the earrings, some which were similar to what I do, were priced double or more than what I had. Granted, her display was more professional than mine. She purchased some of jamesp works. Also interested in getting some more refined pieces from him. Her partner does stained glass. She purchased some glass cabs to incorporate into her works.
A great weekend overall. Thanks for looking.
For those in or traveling through Wisconsin.
On October 6 and 7 there is an Artists Makers Market at the Amherst Opera House
207 N Main Street, Amherst, WI. Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Sunday from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
So far, mediums to be presented include fiber arts, metal, lapidary, wood, photography and jewelry.
I will have jewelry and lapidary related items such as cabochons, rough rocks, slabs and some free tumbles for the kiddos.
Note, that I did not make all of the cabs, the picks or bracelets shown below. This is just an example of the types of items I have available.
There are about 50 events that weekend within a 50 mile area. Stop by and say hi if you are in the area. Wish me luck.
