All stuff I picked up while stumbling around. The red/white plumey-looking stuff is from the NV-UT border, the small carnelian and two other pieces are from the Willamette River in OR, everything else is local (within 1 hour drive.) 3-16 or more weeks in a 6lb lortone barrel with 46/70. Sort every 10 days or so to pick out ones ready to move on. (Got impatient last couple months, continued some that could have used more rough grind.) Remaining stages in lot-o with around 30% ceramic fill, mostly small with some large. 48h 2 tbsp 120/220 with rinse at 24h, another 2tbsp. 48h 2 tbsp 500 (SiC), rinse at 24h, another 2 tbsp. 36h AO 1200, 2tbsp then 1 more at 24h. About 24h with 3tbsp Raybrite. Monitor water throughout. 3h burnish, lots of water and lots of borax. Woe is me, stuff is still getting beat up in the AO and polish. Was chalking it up to material that is full of fractures, but even the small piece of carnelian has bruises and a small chip. I don't _think_ I'm underfilling. Read saxplayer 's thread on tiger eye/lakers. Wondering if the AO is playing a role since that seems to be where the damage is being noticed. Going to try adding borax and maybe more water than I've been using. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks for looking. PS would love the pdf tutorial from tntmom . Edit: oops, neglected to mention there are a couple pieces of Priday Moss in there too. Edit2: These are super closeups. I swear the rocks are purtier than they appear. tumbles 9/28: Generated from my Samsung GALAXY S5 using tools.rackonly.com

If you are looking for my tutorial then it is here on the forum in the file archives. But you can also find it just by going to Google and typing in Krystee's Obsidian Tumbling Recipe. It has been shared all over the internet in places that I didn't even knew existed, lol. Here is one of the links that goes directly to the pdf. Thanks for looking and tagging me Krystee's Obsidian Tumbling Recipe

Some very cool rocks you got there. Group shot sure shows the shine.
Damage in the polish stage happens more than I think it should. Lack of slurry is my guess as to the cause. The borax will thicken things up and should help.

Wow, you have some good ones! I especially like #10 That's one of my faves as well. It's a remnant of a heal; I have a couple slices of it too. One of these days there will be a couple killer cabs out of it.

Hey man, great tumbles! I think they look great! I'm trying some new stuff out on my lot-o mechanisms so I'll let you know if I find a way to reduce fractures etc. Some rocks are certainly prone to it, and I don't tumble my rocks to eternity - I like them bigger than a dime
