I did a quick 6 day tumble on a couple Moctezuma agate halves. 100 percent lot-o. 1 day in 120/220, 3 days in 500, 2 days in polish. I was happy with them so I tossed in 13 more today. This shot shows one half tumbled and the other half un-tumbled some of the ones I just added Thanks for looking, Chuck

I’ll bet you’re happy every time you think about making the drive to e rock shop that day. Those are so cool.

I hand finished one last week and I might like it better just because the back side was left completely natural that way. I have over 100 of them to do though so I am going to settle with tumbling them. Chuck

I'm so jealous of your find, Chuck! Great stones! Can I trade you some polished Mary ellen (or anything I've finished lol) for like 2 of those? EDIT - I mean seriously, really beautiful rocks.

Drummond Island Rocks, How large are those agates? The ones I have seen in the past are in the 3/4 to 1 1/2" range. Have you though about cutting little slabettes out of the larger ones. They would make very nice pendants.

Each year as a treat to myself I tumble a batch of high end rocks. Last year it was 15 pounds of Botswana agate halves and the year before that was 20 pounds of Lake Superior agates. This year it will be these Moctezumas. I am sure at some point I will slice and cab some of these tumbles but I am not in a hurry to do so. Chuck

I do like to tumble preforms that have been shaped on a diamond wheel. The shape of those Moctezuma's would be pretty easy to get tumbler ready as most seem to be rounded or oval, just knock off a few rough edges. I was going through an old shop yesterday buying odds and ends. On one of the shelves behind some old electronic equipment I spotted a wooden box that I was barely able to get a hand into. Did pull out a hand-full of the Moctezuma's. Difficult to estimate how much is in the crate, maybe 20 to 30 pounds. Owner said it's been there for 20 years. Plan on digging it out on my next trip.

What a pretty batch ! Glad you like to tumble and take pictures. We non-tumblers thoroughly enjoy your work. Thanks!
